Needed a tea kettle sound, so i recorded this. From a hot near-boil to full whistle, and turned off. Apologies for my voice at the end, responding to my girlfriend yelling at me for boiling water multiple times at 11:00 pm. Recorded with at2020 usb directly to audacity on my macbook. Noise removed (i think).

This is a recording of several professional gas-heated clothing dryers running in a laundromat. It was recorded from about three feet away near the left end of the dryers operating, near the front-loading doors of the dryers. Heavy, cyclic, mechanical rumbling sound. Recorded with a h4n and built-in mics, stereo, 96 khz / 24 bits. April, 2012.

I used one of those blank plastic cds that you sometimes get when you buy cd holders. I broke it up into many pieces and dropped them multiple times adding on the ending to make it sound like the leftover pieces bounce. Sorry about the backround noises, recorded on a laptop with the fan running and a tv in the backround. Came out pretty good though. I was satisfied in the end though.

Made using the online remote shortwave receiver of university of twente in enschede holland:http://websdr. Ewi. Utwente. Nl:8901/made in the part of the 20-meter ham band where psk31 is the dominant digital mode, with the receiver deliberately mistuned, in fm mode at it's widest setting to get a mishmash heterodyning sound.

This is the sound of trying to squeeze the last dregs of liquid hand soap from a 60-oz plastic container. It has no excuse for sounding this rude. Recorded opportunistically under non-ideal circumstances (including noise floor and clock ticking in background), using the built-in mic on an iphone 7. No processing was done except splicing multiple takes into one file, and transcoding to wav.

This is a recording of applause at the end of the concert in a large auditorium. The conductor and performers walk off and on stage for multiple bows throughout. This is recorded with a small field recorder from a seat in the audience. The file politely clips in parts as people near me clapped, but it's not noticeable. The cough in the beginning is easily cut out, the file loops really well, so you can just delete that section, and it will sound continuous.

Although the project inspire (nasa) seems to have died, there are still sources of sound sources of vlf noise in the net. In http://abelian. Org/vlf can be found several available streams from multiple receivers located around the globe. In this package, i simply offer a few records scattered in time from this site. The stereo samples correspond to a experimental stream that combines two sources balanced on each channel: cumiana vlf receiver (italy) + sheffield vlf receiver (uk). The mono tracks correspond to other indeterminate receivers.

I composed a fairly long midi loop of chord progressions & let each section repeat twice. Then i layered a bunch of return tracks of the same line with arpegiated outputs played with straight, quarter note swing eight note swing, 16th note swing, & 32nd note swing all played together. The output was then compressed, heavily chorused through multiple fx devices, and stereo panned into the nonsense you hear. Moderately flowing stream - jack creek in central oregon's cascade mountains flows out of the ground at the base of three fingered jack mountain. The water comes from a glacier on the mountain a couple of miles from where multiple springs create the large creek bubbling up from the dry ground. This recording was done several hundred feet downstream where the creek was already about 50 wide and only about a foot deep. Recorded by britt sandusky, master falconry dude. Falconry bells, which attach to a hawk’s legs, provide the falconer with information about their bird of prey. They can help locate the bird’s location, let the falconer know if the bird is active or stationary, and signal the falconer if the bird is near a predator. Falconry bells come in multiple shapes and are made from metal. Nickel, silver, brass, and bronze are all common materials used for falconry bells. Both the shape and the metal type impacts a bell’s sound quality, along with its pitch, tone, volume, and durability. Oftentimes, individual falconers will have a preference in material type based on which pitches are the easiest for them to hear.

This sample is a vocal "arh" sound, pitch d. It was created by singing "arh" into a dynamic microphone, with pop-screen and recording, through an e-mu 1820, into cakewalk music creator pro version 2. The sample was then roughly trimmed. The sample was then imported into wavelabs lite where the dc off set was removed, the sample was normalized and the trimmed exactly. This sample was then imported back into cakewalk music creator pro version 2, compressed slightly, then duplicated 5 times. Each of these duplications was given slightly different attack and release times, different pan and different eqs. 1 sample was given a multiple voice chorus\flanger effect and another auto-pan. A 6 sample was then added before the main sample, with reduced gain. This sample has increasing volume envelope and "moving" pan envelope. All 6 samples where sent to the same master out where "chapel" style re-verb and compression was applied. The mix down from this was then imported into wavelad lite, dc off set removed and normalized.

I made this recording of ambient backgroud noise directly beneath the eiffel tower. The shape of the eiffel tower creates a unique acoustic environment in the vicinity of the tower, especially beneath it. You can hear a much higher level of background noise than you would hear in an open area, and the noise is unusual. The tower is made of thin pieces of iron arranged into a complex and very large lattice, which reflects and slices and dices sound in a unique way. Thus you have a high level of very even and unidentifiable background noise as noises from the ground and the platform get bounced around and distorted by the structure of the tower. This recording was made from the ground, with microphones pointed straight upwards about 2 meters off the ground. Noises from the ground travel upwards and bounce around the inside of the tower, then drift back down. There are noises in the tower itself as well, such as elevator motors and people on the platforms. The first platform, at 57 meters, is open in the center, whereas the second platform, at 116 meters, is completely closed and flat on the bottom. Wind moving through the tower also makes noise, and again the open structure of the tower changes the noise in a way that is specific to the eiffel tower. There wasn't much wind at ground level for this recording, but i don't know what the wind speed was at higher levels in the tower. Some voices in multiple languages are audible in the recording, as the area beneath the tower is awash in tourists. Recorded hand-held with a zoom h4n and a mini windjammer, using built-in mics, in stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, then converted to mp3 at 320 kbps because of the size of the file. Duration is about two minutes.
